about

This was my first album released in the winter of 2009. At the time, I really didn't know what I was doing, I just knew that I needed to start writing music, and I was lucky to have a supportive community, and label willing to work with me.

Sometimes Always is album of experimentation. I was learning to write music during this time, and being influenced and taught by a wide range of friends working in different genres. Out of all of that experimentation, this collection of tracks came together.

It is the story of a time of great change in my life, when I was beginning to realize that the way I had always been was no longer going to work, and I needed to become someone new. The birth of Time for Trees was the first indication of that new person.

There are some gems on this album, and some moments of simple brilliance, but it is rough. Often an artist can only hear what they dislike in their past work, and while I have those moments of angst in listening, I also hear the freedom of expression I was able to harness in the creating of Sometimes Always.
